have a friend that gave me the heads up regarding this, after he was stung like you.
I keep my Iphone on airplane mode whilst in Bali until I'm in a free Wifi zone and let it rip then with the emails and forums.
I also take an old phone with me and use a Bali sim in it, for texting and calling home.
Sorry to hear it was so costly...that's a lot of cocktails ..Ouch!
