I rang Optus Tech Support the morning before we left Australia and asked for the internet to be turned off both our iphones that afternoon at 4pm (our flight for Bali left at 4.10pm). The guy was really lovely and even sent hubby and me texts to confirm that he had done it.
Whilst in Bali we used wifi at our hotels and any cafes where we saw free wifi signs (just bought a drink and asked for the code).
When we got back to Australia I rang Tech Support from the airport and got the internet turned back on 5 minutes later. It was all really easy and saved us a hell of a lot of money.
