I have spent 4 weeks in Bali my last 3 or 4 trips and will be staying just over 4 weeks this coming trip in August. I don't move to different hotels like others who have posted, but base myself in one place - Legian. I do, however, do one or two overnight trips during the stay, as well as a few day trips. Hotels have always been happy to offer a good discount for a month stay, so I'm not fussed if I pay twice for hotels for a night or two, especially since I don't really stay in high end expensive hotels anyway.
I'm quite happy to have the odd day here and there where I do nothing much at all - sit about reading and relaxing. I find that when I stay for the month, I don't feel I have to do something every day to 'make the most' of my time.
I travel solo and often eat in smaller warungs, so my expenses aren't huge. I tend to average around $50-70 a day, for all meals, drinks, shopping, tours etc. And that's without really budgeting at all. Some days I might spend $100 or even $200 and other days I'd be lucky to spend $10-20.
