... your first baby if you think all they do is feed and sleep ;-) And if its not your first baby you may need to consider that some babies are less settled that their older brothers or sister were.

In my experience between the ages of 2 weeks and 6 weeks is when babies are often their most unsettled - and issues such as wind, colic & reflux can become a problem (even if they have been 'dream' babies for the first few weeks). Babies of this age can also be very unsettled by a different environment, temperature, bed etc etc. For Mums the six weeks after birth are also important times for establishing breastfeeding, adjusting to motherhood and recovering from the birth. The other thing to consider is what if the baby arrives later than expected?

As a mum of 3 & midwife I wouldn't recommend travelling with a baby of that age and think if you waited till say 4mths you'd have a much more enjoyable trip :-) By that age the baby will likely to still be breastfeed (amazing protection & ease of feeding anywhere) and have a more reliable routine but will not yet mobile and will better cope with travel challenges.
