Weather in Bali for April was unusual....lots of rain most days.
Temperatures cooler than usual, but walking at night if it was not raining was great..nice and cool
Pool water temp very good and refreshing
I was ripped off for the first time in years in kuta when we arrived at midnight, I ducked into a 7/11 for water, cigarettes etc was distracted by the checkout operators mate when i was paying...20 seconds later the checkout guy said that i had given him 90k underpayment....he had swapped my 100k banknote with a 10k note which looks similar whilst i was distracted!!!!
USD about 8600 AUD about 9000...you Aussies are having a good run on the rupiah
Stayed at Fat Yogis on Poppies #1, a nice hotel, great rooms (209 to 219) @ 300k per night, nice pool, BUT pool lounges are cr*p and not enough of them.
Meals, TJ's still good, Kori still fantastic, Havana awful, Treehouse still fantastic value for money, Secret Garden OK but noisy when the good band starts up.
Not many people on the streets, but i expect this will change with the Easter influx this weekend.
Called in to see friends at Kuta Puri Hotel (that we used to stay at 2 years ago)...nothings changed......within 20 mins of being there, there was a scream from a Dutch lady who looked under her pool chair and saw 2 rats,then 2 regulars who have been going for 3 trips a year walked out when they arrived and said they would never return, lots of noise from screaming kids and 2 massive builing sites and pool towels not available until after lunch !!!the hotel still looks nice though.
Getting in and out of the airport was easy, 20 minutes each time.
Tried non bluebird taxis twice....NEVER again
