I am very paranoid about thievery. I always hide anything that might be tempting. I use the in-room safe, but only for a few items & a small amount of money in a sealed envelope with some folded paper to make it look thicker. Gives the impression that's where all my things & money are. Anything else I hide in different places in my locked bag - never all together. Money or jewelery in a plastic bag in the bottom of my washing bag is a fave, with undies on top. A few large notes hidden among my huge number of DVDs etc. Not fail safe but just makes it harder for pilferers & thieves. Also, I think it's probably a good idea to leave a small tip for the room cleaners each day.
