When we stayed at the MBR I insisted on having a safety deposit box, as I knew, as you have said, all electronic safes have a safety code that will open the safe, even if you have selected your own code. They were not happy, but that is the only way you can have some security, also you can supply your own lock to lock the metal box comtaining your valuables.
