carrying all my holiday money in cash would make me very nervous too.
I relax knowing I have a backup plan upon a backup plan, upon a backup plan! Cash, plastic and plastic x2 (with my husband carrying the same).
I do the thumb over the 0's thing also and move the comma (and pretend it's a decimal)forward to give a rough estimate of AUD. All may sound a bit convoluted but hey it works for me.
