but I had an embarasing time of it on the Quad bikes when we had an 'adventure activities packed trip' with the kids last year.
It went like this.- I'm not normally a screamer and we have a quad bike of our own that I ride all the time but thank goodness I had the foresight to hop on the back of my husbands for the trip as I really don't think I would have had the inner fortitude to complete the course of deep ditches and steep slopes on my own. The involuntary screams I kept letting loose were embarasing enough without me having to hop off and walk up a lot of the hills because the bike lacked the guts to carry both of us up!
I had taken a shopping bag full of packets of lollies, that I had read other forumites had done to hand out to any local kids they had come across on the ride. The bag ended up in a muddy puddle when it bounced off during one of the painful bum smacking ditches. Without thinking when it was handed back to me, I just put it back in my lap so I could continue to white knuckle it.
It was kind of humiliating at the end of that hellish trip, when it was obvious nobody believed or understood my explanation for the state of my wet brown crotch. My terrified screams during the trip was the only explanation they needed I guess. Don't know if the pointing and laughing was necessary either! Need I say NEVER again.
The kids and my husband had an absolute ball though and I'm sure will visit again.
footnote: I only saw one kiddie during the trip and we were travelling at such a break neck speed I hurled a packet of lollies over my shoulder in his direction.. god knows where they landed or if he found them.
I really enjoyed your report, even if it did bring some painful memories back to the surface :0).
Glad to hear you had a great time and will return to beautiful Bali.
My own trips there are now focused firmly on leisure pursuits.
Cheers!
