I will be careful with what I say but last year I met the kids at Giri Asih and promised them a computer for their studies and money to pay the local school teacher to come and give extra lessons. My first and only time to send money.
$2000 Australian dollars never made it into the orphanage account (it was diverted) and the children to this day have received nothing. On re visitng there is no sight of the equipment for which I was sent an invoice for, apart from a laptop that is being used by someone at Denpasar Uni..(Not an orphan!)
I have paperwork and a confrontation to prove it.
My heart goes to those kids. I have since done major research on many charitable places in Bali and all my efforts and time and money go to the reputable Bali Kids and to the John Fawcett Foundation. They have a financially transparent accounting system
There are many other great places as well. You just need to pick your area in Bali. Jodie O'Shea in Denpasar, Tuka Orphanage at Dalung, Dania Punia, Yasa Kerti in Amlapura (supported by Jerriatric)
Semara Putra at Klung kung (hearing impaired) and also at Binya Mulia Amlapura...many many....just question first.
I believe BTF admin can also recommend one.
