In 2003 I had to enforce this with Emirates as the standover in Dubal-pre Cairo, was more than 8 hours. I believe it needs to be an 8 hour minimum. Full service airlines should honour this but you may have to do as I did-remind them. Best advice is to contact a travel agent for this info (but NOT a flight centre-so dishonest)
