So many are afraid to carry cash to Bali in fear of having it stolen from their person or hotel.
when this does happen everyone is outraged yet there seems to be not as much sympathy for those that have cash stolen from them electronically at Bali ATMs and its now the most common type of money theft.
Cash is King,you can split it up,you can hide it,you can make it safe but best of all you can defend it.
Carry cash and card only for hotel payment and emergency.
I would never use a card in an Asian ATM that contained my "own money",if i use the banks money and it gets stolen then I wouldnt stress as its not mine money anyway so they can take as long as they like to find it!
Possibly i believe one of the reasons Visa Debit cards were introduced was so people would have to chase up the stolen funds and the bank need not stress as the money isnt the banks.
I do feel sorry for you though because it is an outrageous theft of money and banks/authorities make you feel guilty for something that was beyond your control as if it was you who is dishonest.
