First trip to Bali bout 10 years ago in Feb.
Arrived late then next morning ventured into Kuta about 9am. BIG MISTAKE. Shops sellers were opening up and there was no one else on the street other than us. Every single shopkeeper was targeting us, being first timers we weren't used to the harrasment and were freaking out so we just put the head down and walked away from the shops to get some peace.
Walked for nearly 30 mins and were completely lost in the residential area. There were chickens & pigs in the house blocks and no one spoke english and we just kept saying Kuta? and pointing for directions. Eventually we started to fing out way back to civilisation and were walking down the road towards local type shops and a little kid who was about 3 - 4 years old was following next to us saying hello and looking for some rup's.
He kept say dada and pointing down the road, after about 200 metres he took us to dada. He was a barber and i said to my wife i need a haircut anyway. Asked how much and it was 2000 rp. Sorted that and took the plunge. He put a PINK gown on me and started cutting my hair. he was talking to he friends and they were all laughing. Obviously at the aussie with the pink cape! They had a great laugh at my expense but he did a good job on the hair so i gave him 5000 rp.
Never went out shopping before 10am since!
