Of course you are excepted as an individual! But you will look and feel a lot more respectable if you follow the dress code. You must remember it will be appreciated by the husband of the bride on your behalf if you show his family that you don't mind going to the trouble to respect tradition and it will make everyone feel very happy, which is not a bad thing! And you will look to the family like a respectable member on behalf of the bride.

Look it like your invited to a fancy dress or a black and white function etc..it is acceptable to wear what the hosts expect you to wear at such events to which you are invited to.

You can add your own little individual touches to what you choose to wear of course.

You are not conforming to any religion, (that's the brides choice)...for you it is only clothes!
