I think the case of the lime is to render the off beer that sometimes is served. this is not the problem of the bar owners but they suffer the cost of throwing out bad beer, the fact is that the suppliers are storing Bingtan in the sone (as it is the most popular beer in Bali)this causes secondary fermentation( scientifically know as stinking, as seen in discovery channel may this year)it does not matter the colour of the glass.Aluminium and steel cans do not have this problem so nobody throws lime into them. On the otherhand the pratice of one's finger poked into a bottle to clear the rust leftover after opening is stupid, how much money has one handled,(god knows where that's been),shook hands with someone whom hasn't washed their hands after the toilet, etc.?
More bacteria than the rust and rust is oxidization, therefore basically your drinking a little bit of iron which is required by one's body and the water in the beer to help you not dehidrate in this climate.
P.S. sorry about spelling I only got a C in English
