Nothing to do with my personal safety but your post just triggered a really sad memory from Viet Nam.
We'd made a few visits to an orphanage in Hoi An. It became obvious to us later that we'd been under observation. On the main street just 6 metres away from the entrance, two motorbikes pulled up beside us. They really stood out in that area because the motor bike riders were expensively and fashionably dressed.
The smiling female pillion passenger unwrapped layers of cloth from around a bundle to reveal the most beautiful toddler i have ever seen. She stood the solemn little boy up on her lap.
It wasn't our safety that we needed to be concerned about. It was the little boys. They wanted to sell him to us :(
