We have been in Sanur in July and it has been windy. But it varies, so sometimes just a light breeze. My husband surfs as well, and if Sanur is not good, he'll head a little north to Cucukan or Keramas.Car hire is cheap, or just grab a driver, plenty of them! There is not the full on night life of the west coast, but Sanur has great cafes and restaurants, PLENTY of shops, and much much easier to get around, either biking up and down beach front, or bus-ing or taxi-ing the main drag.
