I forgot to mention in part 1 that the man who hit me who shall be referred to as "P" was very upset afterwards and waited at the hotel with his daughter for his wife to arrive. After the doc left they came into the room to apologise again and to offer to pay the docs bill and also to take us out for dinner one night when I felt better.
They did end up calling several times to check on me over the next few days and told us they would pay for us to have a night out at Neros restaurant. More about that in my restaurant JBR later.
Anyway we left it at the doc said he was knocking off at 3pm and if I felt worse by then to ring him and he would come back and take me to hospital.
In the meantime the insurance company had rung and said to be covered we had to go to BIMC for the Xrays. The insurance company must have rung the BIMC because they rang our room and said they would be there to pick me up at about 3pm. As I couldnt sit on my bum at all there was no way I was getting a taxi all that way travelling along all those bumpy roads!! As it was I could barely move at all. The solution was to get an ambulance.
While we were waiting for the ambulance another phone call from "BIMC" saying that they were picking me up. We had no idea what was going on as we thought they were already organised to pick me up.
About 3 oclock the original doctor who saw me at Febris turned up with an entourage of nurses/orderlies etc in an ambulance to take me off to some other hospital. He just did it himself without even asking us. After some time with the Boss spent out the front of our room where a crowd was gathering - he argued with them that we didnt ask them to come and that we couldnt go to their hospital as our insurance company wouldnt let us.
Finally they left, not very happy at all. Well what do they expect just turning up and expecting me to just go????
Anyway the crowd dispersed only to regroup an hour later when the real ambulance docs/nurses etc turned up. People were taking photos while i was wheeled out it was really embarrassing
the ambulance trip was interesting, they didnt have my stretcher/bed bolted to anything in the ambulance so it kept rolling back and forwards about 6 inches each time which would have been funny if I wasnt so sore!
We got to the BIMC in about 20 mins and was taken to emergency where the doc checked me out top to bottom by then bruises were starting to form over my bum and my back.
I was taken to Xray straight away and checked out. No broken bones thank goodness and the Doc arranged for lots of painkillers/antiinflammatorys/muscle relaxants for me to take back.
Then they gave me a pethadine injection which was just lovely and the pain went away for a while. they wanted me to stay in hospital for 24 hours for observation but I said no - unless they felt it was really necessary.
The hospital was fantastic. Very clean and professional. Not like home where you have to wait hours to see somebody - this was all done in the space of probably 40 mins. i would not hesitate to recommend anybody to go there if you have any health issues at all.
Dealing with the insurance company was at times frustrating. At one stage one woman hung up on my husband and was quite rude. they had a nurse who called us regularly to give advice and to check on me which was really nice. She also organised for me to fly business class on the way home to make it a bit more comfortable for me.
Since we have been home we havent heard anything from them and I have to sort out getting reimbursed for our hospital bills etc
Hospital bill for ambulance, xrays, treatment, medication etc was $500 which I thought was pretty good.
I am still very sore now and have bruises the size of fists on my back and my bum. I also got the flu 3 days before we flew home so every time I coughed was like electric shocks down my lower back.
I am getting over that now so things are looking a bit brighter.
restaurant JBR to come
