As you walk in the door of Hardys Supermarket the ever smiling mobile phone girls are at the first counter. Simcards are 50,000Rp and I think include 10,000Rp credit. I would recommend that you pay 100,000Rp and that will start you off with about 50,000Rp credit and see how that goes after a couple of days calling home. You can top up as you wish 20,000 - 100,000Rp. If not Hardys SIMs are available everywhere its just the girls at Hardys are so helpful and do the re-load for you while u-wait so no hassels to recharge your phone.
