Actually one can get Legionella by merely taking a shower, inhaling even the smallest of droplets. If the water is not heated above 50 degrees Celsius (60 degrees in the heater), there can be bacteria growing in the pipes, the hose or the head of the shower. The same thing can happen to the cold water, if it does not get cold enough. A good water pressure in the pipes is also needed to avoid getting Legionella.
We may all have encountered luke warm showers with low pressure when taking a shower in a place were maintenance is not a priority while keeping costs down and profits up of course is.
Just Google and you will find heaps of information. In humans with low immune defence Legionella can be a killer.
