Flights Questions - using 2 airlines

Wanting some guidance please. Due to deciding to make a late booking we have worked out that our best option for getting to Perth-Bali return is to depart on Jet* and come back via AA. Understand that I can book a one way flight to Bali with Jet*, and will have to pay the return flight with AA in RP (converted to AUD).

Has anyone done this and is there any issues that I need to know?
