We've done this trip via Perth - to save some $s. But in hindsight it was a disaster waiting to happen. We flew to Perth with Jet*. Arrived late in PTH. Then had to scramble for our luggage, off the carousel, leave the Domestic Terminal catch a shuttle bus to the International Terminal (about 15-20 min trip). Made it with 15 minutes to spare - we were told that the Gate would have been closed "irrespective" of late arriving flights. As you are going to use different carriers, there is no way they will wait for you. There were 17 on our flight doing the same thing - trying to save some money. Almost ended in disaster for all. Can I suggest that if you have the opportunity to fly direct from MLB to DPS then take that option. Sure, it may cost a bit more, but in the long run, you know when you leave Tullermarine your next stop is Bali. No lost or delayed baggage on carousels etc. We now fly direct, and save a lot of anxious hours. We believe its money well spent. Have a great holiday.
