I read an article last week in one of the local english language papers and it did mention La Nina as the reason for the current unseasonable weather. It also suggested that the rainy season would probably arrive earlier rather than later this year, around November. No mention was made about the wet season being worse than usual and definitely not that the wet season would be dry by any means.
I was in Bali from Mid-August until Sunday just gone and the weather was, for the most part, fantastic. We had a few evenings early on in the trip with a little rain, and then the last week was more rain than usual, but it really didn't disrupt anything in any great way. Mostly it was night time rain and there was one night with a big electrical storm. We had no days where the rain stopped us going out - just a few light showers that would clear up and sometimes come back again later, but no real heavy day time rain.
Having said that, weather prediction isn't an exact science.
