I travelled to Bali 2 years ago as an 18 year old with some girlfriends (all same age, all first o/s holiday alone). we managed to go 2 weeks without contacting our parents for help bar the odd, im alive dont stress email.
we organised the whole thing ourselves with no input from my mother (who is a bali addict) or anyone else.
the learning experience was much more than it would have been had i been constantly in touch with my mother, getting her to help me solve problems and having her constantly post my activities on a public notice board.
I really want to read the girls JBR as I agree there isnt a lot of info on here for the young people - however, I dont want to read in every second line 'then we called mum, mum already told you, mum planned this for us'. doesnt really sound like the holiday was their own does it?
