airport you will be inundated with touts trying to sell you hotels and tours and bullshi*tting you about hotels being closed, tours being cancelled etc. The truth is there are quite a few budget hotels and a couple mid range hotels and many boats that you can arrange to get yourself to Komodo and Rinca. You can also stay on Komodo in what was quite good quality accommodation at one time but is now white ant ridden and threatening to collapse at any minute. A fun experience for a night. There is a very efficient English speaking 'guide' who can organise anything for you and at an honest price. His name is Jeffrey Buana (sp) and he is the non-pushy one at the back of the airport group.
There is also an island off the coast, Seraya, which is a great get-away from it all experience for a couple of nights.
