I remember the first time one of our kids went alone many years ago and I think it is becasue we are so aware of stuff being regular visitors to Bali which can stress us out. I know some people on here will remember said son buying paintings for $50 each and he got 2 rofl...
We can't protect but still worry. Same son now does three or four trips a year for surfing and often I don't even know he is there till he gets back !
Try not to worry, sounds like they are having an amazing time and will love their first trip alone.
Apparently Ubud is incredibly busy these days ( I see they are off there soon) I didn't go last month but a lot of our group did and the temple is pretty full on, the streets are packed with traffic and one friend told me it was busier than Kuta and harder to cross the road.
