Thought a few of you may like to hear how the girls are - The girls arrived yesterday afternoon & I have spoken to them both tonight.They love Satriya Cottages & said their room is terrific,the hotel is in a great central location & the staff are very friendly.They said it's a great place for all age groups.They said the other guests are a real mixture of age groups but there are plenty of young people there.
They said they had a fairly late night last night with my girlfriend Gladys considering the time we were at the airport very early on Monday morning with virtually no sleep the night before & the fact that they did not have a nap after arriving in Bali.They were still awake & talking until around 11pm last night & woke up at 7.30am this morning but didn't bother heading down to breakfast.Last night they went out to eat at a local food court with Gladys & said that they ate some great Indonesian meals at incredible prices & then all had drinks by the pool when they got home & made friends with hotel security staff as they were doing their rounds.They said they are surprised at how strong the cocktails in Bali are for the price,they said too many & that Panadol would be needed <LOL> Tonight they ate close to Poppies 2 & went to an Internet cafe for a while & were going back to have an early night at home so they could be up bright & early in the morning.
They have both already well & truly got settled into bargaining & already bought watches,handbags & runners at what I thought were pretty good prices.They have had facials,massages & done the fish foot spa - in spite of the fact that our daughter said it sounded gross when we told her how great it was.
They said the money changer close to the hotel is a good & honest one but another one that went a bit further down the road tried to screw them.They wanted to change $100 & he tried to give them mostly 20,000 rupiah notes,then he wanted to count the money after they had counted it & then said give me an extra 5,000,no make that an extra 50,000 to make it easier - the alarm bells went off & they realised that he was just trying to confuse them.They walked out & went back to the original bloke next to their hotel,just a 5 minute walk away.Tomorrow they are heading off to do their 1st activity - a day trip to Lembongan Island with the Underwater walk & many other water activities.
They said they do intend to do a JBR of sorts when they get home but won't be going on BTF while they are in Bali - too busy having fun & if they do find time to briefly go online they will just be talking to their families.They wanted me to say Thanks to everyone on BTF who has helped with hints & tips & answered the questions that I asked on their behalf before they left.
They both intend coming to the Adelaide BTF dinner at Pondok Bali on Saturday 31st July to say mingle with everyone who is there.
