Have been back in West Oz for 5 days after having 24 days in paradise and we are now all feeling the normal depression which hits every time we return home. After several trips to Bali, this was our first staying in Sanur and we loved it. I doubt we will ever stay in Seminyak again. It was peaceful and relatively quiet but if we wanted action it wasn't far away. The villa was amazing, location was perfect on Jalan Sudamala near the Fortune Cookie. Great staff and so many good restaurants and bars nearby. Loved the Trophy Room and Gardenia cafe, great food and cold drinks.
As usual we shopped too much but loved every minute of it so don't regret the excess baggage charge. Kids had a blast buying stuff - boys bought copious amounts of sports shoes, watches and boardies, little girl has enough clothes to start her own boutique.
24 days was a great amount of time, we spent a lot of time with our adopted Balinese family and Steve took us all over the island. Spent a bit of time at Ubud (Love the markets here and the shops, normally spend time at Pudi Pundi restaurant but also tried for the first time Dirty Duck restaurant - brilliant) and visited the Safari Park, Waterbom, Kintamani and Bangli (Steve's home village), did our usual trips to Uluwatu and Padang Padang Beaches- fantastic days. Steve made every day a breeze -we can highly recommend him if you need a driver. He has been driving us for 5 years and we have never had a problem. His English is so good and as I said he is now part of our family, the kids adore him. It was horrible having to say goodbye to him and his wife and kids, lots of tears and hugs. Can't wait to get back to them.
Now it's time to get back into the routine of work and life at home and find some time to investigate buying a villa/house in Sanur. Checked out a few places to buy while we were there but nothing that was right for us.
THANKS to everyone who posted info before we went over - these snippets of info are great even for us experienced Bali lovers.
