Last year I saw health inspectors at work in Kuta. They were doing all the right things. Taking swabs off cutting boards and knifes and checking the temperature of food in fridges.
After 12 visits, this is the first time, I have seen health inspectors at work in Indonesia.
The Japanese tourist market is very sensitive to reports of Typhoid. Several years ago, there were reports of deaths from Typhoid in Bali. Next year, the number of Japanese arrivals fell by 30%.
