As advised in the previous JBR 4 out of 5 of us were AWOL for a few days each with BB at different times.
We only ate together on the first evening meal and for dinner early evening before heading home to Darwin.
So here is some info on Restaurants first up.
Tommys - Rum Jungle Road
Not as busy here like in August where you couldn't get a table.
Newbie fell in love with the dish that had baked beans on toast. This was a right winner for him.
I had the corned beef & salad roll which to be honest wasn't anything to rave about. The Greek Salad was better that I had on previous visits. I think it might be about what you fancy at the time... at least we didn't have a long wait this time around.
Yutz - Rum Jungle Road
Had a lunch and evening meal here. The older teenagers also ate an evening meal here at some point. This is probably one of our favourite places to eat - no matter what you fancy.
I was really craving potatoe and steak at the end of the trip & so this place delivered. We also had our last meal together here before flying home that night.
Mozarella _ JL Padma
I had heard great reviews on BTF about this newbie place. We thought we had best give it a try.
Walking past one evening we noted it was a full house & looks right nice of an evening with candles on the tables. IndoNat next door was in comparison rather quiet & I have not seen that since they moved from Garlic Lane - 4 years now perhaps ??
Anyway I had 'Crispy Duck' on my mind when we returned a few nights later. I wasn't disappointed & the youngest son had a Chicken Schnitzel which he enjoyed.
Bianca - JL Padma
We had planned to return here again after testing it out in August. It was by accident that we ended up here as we had planned to go to Bali Bagus just past Posers on Padma Utara.
The blackout that evening had meant BB with no generator could not serve guests. So it was a case of spot the place that had a generator.
At Bianca We ordered curry, lasagne & nasi campur. All delicious & the entertainment was fab. Though not exactly to the liking of our 14 year old hahahah.
Junk food
It is no secret that I detest junk food. In fact I cook 7 days a week at home & is part of why we own a bed & breakfast here in Darwin - I enjoy cooking for guests. Give me a kitchen even on holidays and I will still cook for part of the time at least!!!
Yet the kids love KFC McDonalds etc. Somehow the dial a delivery number got in their grasps. Grrrrrr.
This was all going well until one order took 2 hours to deliver. Not surprised with the traffic.
The feedback is the meals are smaller but cheaper apparently than home is AUS.
Halloo Restaurants
One evening we decided ( everyone was ill ) to avail ourselves of this dial service that I knew of but had never used before. I was on the computer trying to figure a restaurant that could cater for everyone's tastes.
With our tribe this was not easy. With my state of mind it was a case of KISS ( Keep It Simple Stupid)that my Master Chef had instilled in me.
Yet How do you get a Big Mac Caesar salad. ??? I was really stressed to the MAX. Anyway I tried to look for something in Seminyak rather than a delivery from Kuta via non moving traffic. Cafe Mokka was the end choice. Delivery service was good - the food reasonable nothing to rave about but under the circumstances we had food on the table.
Made Warung - Seminyak
I had been wanting to go here for years. Finally made it. Had the avocado & shrimp on both occasions that we visited for lunch. Brian had ½ Nasi Camphur & ½ Mie Goreng. We enoyed our meals. There was always a long wait as the place was packed to the rafters & staff run off their feet.
Seems they are doing some major extensions.
Hope these mini reviews are of some help.
