flying from perth

hi, i/m trying ot figure out if i can actually save any money by flying syd to perth and taking advantage of the cheap flights.
3 of us can get return tickets for a total of $651. this doesn't include the tax,and i don't know how much that is. am scared if i book i'll end up having to pay an enormous amount to ge to perth and then it will be a waste. any ideas?
