prior to departure if you are taking a credit card in case there are any discrepancies and they will be aware of any unusual activity on your card and can stop access if necesary after they contact you.
We take a credit card for emergencies , and most of our spending money in travellers cheques as well as some rupiah for taxi from airport. Most money changers dont have a problem with a colour photo copy of your passport, cause you dont want to carry it around in case it gets lost or stolen. I have always paid my drinks account at the hotel with our credit card and never had a problem till last year at MBR ( they're machine was down and they didnt have a manual facility!)it caused a huge problem just before checking out. So, I wont be doing that again.Taking all cash isn't the best option if you are staying for a while with alot of money in my opinion.
