We are also meeting up with friends who had already booked, and stay there every year. We are having 3 nights in Sanur, in a two star place, but again location location, and then going over to the Jayakarta for 7 nights. I have the advantage of having visited there before and knowing that the pools and location are great. You sound like me, I like to know everything before I book.
Rest assured I am sure you will have a great time!
If it turns out you can fit 3 in a motel room, maybe you can change your accomodation type?
