My family is also booked into the private apartments at Jayakarta for the first time (we normally stay at Melasti beach resort down the road) and ours looks fine. Our friends have also decided to join us and couldn't get a private appt so have booked one through a travel agent a 2 bedroom one.
This will be our 6th trip to bali as a family, and to be honest, you will be that busy during the day, you really do spend minimul time in your rooms. As long as it is comfortable, clean and have a decent bathroom in working order, don't worry yourself too much.
You will have far too much fun outside of your apartment with your friends. My friends are a little anxious as well but I am sure they will be adequate and if not, maybe upgrade if its not booked out.
