We have just returned from a great stay at the TS and I agree with all the advice already provided. What I can add is that there is a guy working there that that we met who is known as Wayan B, he speaks great English.
If you are having problems communicating, can I suggest that you call the TS one more time and speak with Wayan B or arrange to speak with him and let him know of your concerns.
Another possible option is to see if anyone staying in Ubud could visit the TS and check things out for you. Not sure about confidentiality and all that, but thought it might be an option if you let the TS know this was going to happen.
I can only report great communication with TS staff via email before and after our recent stay as we have booked to stay there again in December.
