My husband and i plan to visit Bali in July, without our three children. We honestly aren't interested in spending our vacation laying on the beach or by a pool, no offence to those who do. We want to white water raft, snorkle, see the jungle, do some shopping, etc. We like the outdoor and, as US expats in China, have been missing our 'outdoors' lifestyle. This is our first trip to Bali and we have no idea which part of the island to stay on. I have read countless descriptions of the different parts of the island but still don't know where to stay. We prefer to stay away for the heavily 'touristy' areas but don't want to lose the convience of easy access to the activities that we would like to do and we wouldn't mind having some good resturants and/or night spots near by. Can anyone give me some insight on what part of the island might best fit our needs? Suggestions on accomodations and activities are also welcome! Thanks
