You would be cutting it very fine! if your Sydney flight is late, and they frequently are, then down to baggage pick-up, which can be slow, then up again to the International desks (they are in the same building)then customs! doesn't sound do-able to me.
I'd be trying for a 2pm or 3pm flight unless they can send the luggage straight through, even then it would be pretty close although they will often wait if the connecting flight is late.
