Just leave it as it is. Puchase your own insurance through whoever you wish. Should be made to show receipt for said insurance at check in counter. They already check passport and other travel docs what's one more sheet of paper??
Seriously common sense must prevail at some point. Yes it is an added expense but generally a minor one in comparrison to cost of your journey. As the old saying suggest lead a horse to water....,
