Just back from 15 days in Bali. Went via KL from Perth all in one day. Would not recommend with young ones without a stopover in KL. Just too long a day for kids and parents! Air Asia X did not have a plane so we ended up on Air Mauritus which was fairly average. Air Asia does not allow you to take your own food on flights. We did have a little and lucky we did or we would have starved. Had ordered and paid in advance for a meal. Did not get what we ordered because everyone received the same and it was disgusting! From memory we were offered 1 drink of water but that was it for the 5 hour flight. Oh, well as the saying goes - you get what you pay for!

Landed in beautiful Bali early evening ready to start our 2 weeks of R & R. Stayed at Ramayana in Kuta. Have stayed there last 5 times and still love the place. Great staff & great breakfast! The hotel has had a bit of reno work done since we were there in Feb 08. New poolside bar and massage area. The furnishings in the room have been updated and all bedding also new.

Had a bit of a misunderstanding about the bedding. Firstly we got there and instead of a double bed and a single, of course there were 3 single beds and of course there would not be any double beds available while we were there! They had lovely new duvet covers on the bed but unfortunately they only had a bottom sheet and not a top sheet. So after 1 night after sweltering under the duvet I requested a new sheet for the top. So they came in and changed it, asked us to check if OK. They had actually stripped the bed, put a new bottom sheet on but still no top sheet! After much discussion they finally understood that, yes I did need a duvet, a top sheet and a bottom sheet. Get into bed the next night and the top sheet has disappeared again! Rang housekeeping and asked for the same again. This time they deliverd to my door, I made the beds and hopefully that was the end of it. But know, 2 nights later the top sheet had disappeared again!. I finally admitted defeat and slept with the duvet cover and no top sheet for the remainder of our hols! Only in Bali!

Went to Safari Park which was good but a bit pricey - especially the elephant ride at $35/head for 5 mins. Daughter loved the water park and parents loved the misty sprinklers all around!

Ate at Un's a couple of times which was very nice and also ate at Poco Loco's which I always enjoy.

Had a canvas printed at "Shoot Bali". Very impressed with quality, price and packaging. They also deliver to your Hotel which is great.

Overall, a typical enjoyable, sometimes humourous but relaxing time in the Island of the Gods. The Balinese as friendly and gentle as ever. Can't wait to go back - (might take my own top sheet next time! LOL)
