most of the opinions on here but i take very little cash and rely pretty much entirely on ATM's - i am with Commonwealth Bank and they have quite a few ATM's in Bali and i find the rate and fees to be slightly better than any other method of getting rupiah.
However, if i do take cash i just split it up and leave some in safe at reception and carry the rest between me and my wife.
