the passport being stamped. We do know about having his passport stamped and then being exempt from the Fiscal but our understanding was that it was only available for people living in Australia on a migration visa not when coming and going on a tourist / visitor visa, but hey lucky you if you have it.

I can only tell you of our experience with the multiple entry visa. On the form 48 or 48R on the first page near the top I think is where you nominate the approximate length of time you wish to apply for. We nominated between 1 - 3 months. We did not request a multiple entry visa but were granted one. The visa is valid for a 12 month period from date of grant. The maximum stay stipulated on my husbands visa was 3 months and it had the no further stay marked on it. He was not allowed to work but could study for up to one month I think.

I am sorry I cannot answer your query regarding applying for a longer stay visa and if it goes to Jakarta.

In the letter you submit with your visa application, I would give as much detail as possible about your reasons for wanting the No further stay lifted etc or having an extended visa. Again I suggest you make contact with Immigration. I have found them to be very helpful and they may be able to simplify the entire process.

Just one thing, if you are intending to apply for the spouse visa in the next 3 months I would also be speaking with Immigration here about that. Your other alternative is to speak with a migration agent to get a heads up on what to do. I initially made a phone call to an Agency and was impressed by how much guidance they were prepared to give me even though I was only making an enquiry.

As you are probably aware your husband will have to have a police clearance. Generally they are valid for 6 months so you would want to have this done not too far in advance of applying for the Spouse Visa. The health check is valid for 12 months. Certification of documents is free in Australia but in Bali / Indonesia certification has to be done by a Notaris. Everything you submit which is a copy must be certified. On the other hand any documents which need to be translated you should do in Bali as it is much cheaper than Australia. If you need to know where to get translations done I can assist you. Dont have the information in fromt of me at the moment.

Lastly, wherever you apply for your spouse visa try to ensure you have covered off all the required documentation. If its complete the first time chances are you will find the process relatively painless. If you dont provide all the documentation, translations, certified copies etc, obviously it will be more drawn out.

More than happy to try to answer any other questions.
