Bloodyron is right (as usual). You will need to catch taxis everytime you want to eat out. We stayed there last year with our two children, and even though it is on the bypass (highway) away from the village we loved it. The kids will love it. Apartments excellent. You'll have no trouble getting taxis and cheap as chips. Our kids had cereal in room etc (has kitchen) in the morning and we had a coffee and then we headed off for breakfast around 9 or 10am and ate at different restaurant every morning. Did some exploring & shopping then came back for swimming and relaxing. Got back in taxis around 6pm for dinner; again different restaurants. Worked out well as it got us out of the hotel so we weren't tempted to eat there very expensive food! We did, however, order kids fish and chips and eat it around the pool a few time in the afternoon as it was delicious!
There is a money changer opposite and to the left of Hardys. It is like a little bank and very good with receipts and security. Hardy's is a 3 storey department store. As far as shopping goes, we would get taxi to Kuta and go to Matahari, Centro etc and cheap surf outlets. Taxis to Kuta were around 60,000 rupiah. Hope this helps and have a wonderful stay. I will leave email open if you have any questions. And yes, has water cooler in room which was a huge bonus, including boiling water on tap.
