Originally we agreed to replace a broken shower screen & things have snowballed as they often do when one is renovating. It's gone from one small thing to a full bathroom renovation.I expect this has happened to others before <LOL> One thing seems to lead to another & it just goes on!

Any ideas of photos of your favourite Bali hotels bathroom or any other ideas or input would be truly appreciated. If you have done anything similar I also like to hear from you or even if you know of web pages that have decent photos of Bali style bathroom renovations.

If you have any ideas re tips for saving $ I would also value your input.Until I started getting quotes I had no idea what a big project I was taking on.Tilers, plumbers & electricans sure know how to charge.I do have considerable experience in using sub contracters for building work & renovations but have never done a bathroom before.
We have a great handyman who does brilliant work at basic sort of things but I naturally want to use professionals to do the tiling, plumbing & electrical work.Any ideas on exactly how much or what the handyman could do before the professionals arrived ?

So far I am thinking chrome not aluminium shower frame with white acid washed opaque glass,a wide blade timber venetian blinds, very pale, almost cream mottled stone look floor & wall tiles, timber cabinet/vanity bar - no idea re colours yet but think pale look would be better.

We already have the round hand basin from Bali - it's a sand look with some shells & coral inside.Thought all chrome look shower fitting & taps for the shower & vanity bar & the towel rail etc.If possible as close as possible match to the cream colour tiles re a cream coloured ceramic soap dish & foot shelf in the shower, otherwise white.

Originally thought of one of the Bali timber style prison bar mirrors but thought it would be a dust catcher & they also looked better closed so probably going for a water hyacinth look mirror instead.
Also thinking instead of the usual small centre shower grate to have a long track grate recessed & have polished black stones on top that can be washed when needed (Thanks for the idea Aly)

Doesn't seem to be a lot available re magazines for bathroom reno's & most of the showrooms just have plain boring white vanity cabinets but we are happy to get something made up by a cabinet maker if we find something we like.

I have to also think of style of lighting 9 no ideas but want bright )as well as type of laundry basket.Naturally I will have to find the right Frangipani picture to fit into this as well.If you have further suggestions I would like to hear from you.I am sure I am not the only only who has thought of doing this sort of modern Bali style of renovation to their bathroom.

BTW- Before any friends come out with cheeky comments,a squat toilet or a big timber bucket of cold water with a ladle to wash ourselves or any part of our anatomy with is definately not on the agenda.<LOL>
