See section 9B of the product disclosure - I looked into their insurance last trip and decided against it as there is absolutely no cover, licensed or not, for injury from a motorbike or quad bike accident.

In regard to what license is required in order to rent - that often is just up to the person renting the bike or scooter. I've rented motorbikes and never been asked for my license. The onus is not on the person renting the vehicle out, it is on you the rider to be correctly licensed. Legally you require a motorbike license to ride either a scooter or a motorbike in Indonesia, there is no distinction. You require an International Driving Permit AND your current driving license showing that you are licensed.

Perhaps on Lembongan the businesses renting out the bikes are not fussed as to whether you have the correct license. But that doesn't mean you are legal, or that you will be covered if you have an accident.
