Developing a relationship beyond superficial with Balinese people just happens when you open up to them as they open up to you. And when that happens, you feel privileged that they would share their thoughts, opinions, joys, disappointments and fears as you do with them. It's often quite revealing how lives parallel each other.
I've known a friend in Bali for 30 years. We have grown up together and talk about everything from politics to world affairs to religion to our kids to marriage to human nature and our respective businesses and careers. Our frustrations and highlights are often the same and this has helped both of us make sense of things.
You get close and want to help.
I guess what I'm trying to say trayden is that if you relax, spend time and talk with the Balinese beyond them just being a hawker or a seller or a driver or a massage lady you'll not only have a good holiday but a great holiday - one beyond what you see in photos and you'll want to help them.
But I don't know you and maybe you already do this.
