I would say generally speaking that people in Australia who can afford holidays but give nothing to charities probably should have a look at themselves generally. I'm not judging you - I know nothing about your circumstances - but I do judge people who can afford to give to charity and don't.
27,000 chilren die evey day from preventable causes. I think those of us in the West who can contribute to easing that horrorible situation have a moral obligation to do so.
Whether or not you choose to turn a holiday into a charitable excursion is up to you. I don't, as a rule. I do however support a range of international charities and throw my cash around when I am in Bali. I've never really understood why relatively rich tourists get off on driving super-hard bargains from vendors who struggle to feed and educate their families.
