I dont mind a 10%- 20% increase in hotel charges but we paid $80 aust this year with breakfast and that is a long stay rate. Next year the rate is $100 us, which I believe is a bit steep I no that the electricity has gone up and the petrol. The good old govt reduced the petrol early Dec by 500rups the good hearted devils. But the poor people are suffering so badly. We had more Asian people and Japanese and Malays and they don't drink at the bars or buys at the hotels usually they only seem to go to selective places. The locals from Java dont buy from the stall holders I was talking to one lady and she had not had a sale for 2wks how are they supposed to survive
you have got to feel for them as I said they mainly sell the same as each other and there is only so much people can buy. One man we came across one night it had been raining and he sold 1 umbrella which was at 7.45 and he had blessed his wares as it was his 1st sale of the day. I am amazed they can still keep their spirits up it has to be so depressing for them. I can only hope it gets better for them. But where we stayed the gentleman incharge had said the europeans had cancelled for the peak season in the vicinty of 10.000 guest which is going to hit hard as it all related to Mumbi.
