peanuts are used a lot here in cooking. My 2.5 year old son also has an allergy so I have to be careful. I would make sure when you order anything that you arent familiar with to make sure it does not contain peanuts (using the phrase given to you by another forumite)
Unfortunately they do not realise here how serious the consequences can be. My son had a reaction on returning from school one day, despite me warning them of his allergy.
