government vet or another one, but he was most definately associated with the Dog Project, and gave totally WRONG advice. He sent home a b*tch who had retained her placenta and/or pup, to a loving owner. The dog was returned to someone who was willing and able to pay for treatment, with a horrific fever, , terrible diaharoea (sp??), and he claimed 'it was normal.' By the time our friends called me (knowing we are animal people, with dogs), I insisted they contact him, but unfortunately it was of course too late. Now, that's either, negligence, incompetance or worse, isn't it?
On a later visit, to a totally different vet, a friend had a dog with an ear problem that needed constant treatment. Anyone who's had to do that knows how difficult it can be, if you don't know what you're doing. The vet would not offer advice, or help as to how to do it. We sat down, and had a practice session on how you can make a soft muzzle with a piece of cloth, and how to use rewards etc as bribes.
Really really lousy treatment, I was SO disapointed. I really hadn't expected that from a vet anywhere. Would you?
