Sorry to hear of your Jetstar problem.
We had a similar experience in May (although we got the follow up itinerary) Our flight was MEL-DPS via Sydney. We arrived at Melbourne airport in very good time and joined the domestic queue which after waiting for ages (it was Good Friday so the airport was choca block)
Ooops! we were in the wrong queue and directed to 'over there' and not sure where the finger was pointing so we joined what we thought was the correct one... and again the wrong one. We were eventually told (but as least she told us) although very curtly that we was on a an international flight and should have read our itinerary properly. MEL-SYD international !!! I knew Qantas did this as we have done this before but it's the first I'd heard of Jetstar doing it.
We flew through immigration even by-passing the long line and went into the crew line explaining that we are in a desperate hurry and not a lot of time. Phew! we made it but nearly didn't. It was all very hectic.
